Sport Tours International Announces Women’s Postseason Event

WBI MILWAUKEE, WI — Sport Tours International, Inc. is expanding into postseason play and will produce the inaugural Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI) set to debut in March, 2010. Sport Tours has been organizing in-season women’s college basketball tournaments for 22 years.

The WBI will provide a choice for postseason worthy Division I women’s teams who wish to continue their season but who do not qualify for the NCAA Tournament. The 16-team event will take place over two weeks with all games being played on campus sites. The first round matchups will take place March 17-18, 2010 with the championship game tentatively scheduled for March 27 or 28.

“The time has come for women’s basketball to have additional post season opportunities,” said College of Charleston head coach Nancy Wilson. “There are so many teams playing high quality basketball now. Players and coaches thrive on tournament competition and I can think of no better group than Sport Tours to organize such an event.”

Sport Tours International will produce three in-season women’s tournaments in 2009. Thirteen Division I women’s teams will participate in the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic, Bahamas Sunsplash Shootout and Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic.
