ATTACK 2009 Recap - 4/21/2009

“Coach, you mean we don’t have to stand around for 2 hours while you rent the vans?”….. Unidentified Rowan University Lacrosse Player

ATTACK 2009 in San Antonio, Sport Tours International’s spring break lacrosse activity for women’s Division 3 teams, once again focused on allowing the coaches to coach and the teams to play and practice while Sport Tours handled all the logistics of the event. Nine teams came to South Texas for varying lengths of time from March 7-21. The University of Rochester, Oswego State University, Salve Regina University, Washington College, Hamilton College, University of Scranton, Salisbury University, Roger Williams University and Rowan University were the ATTACK 2009 participants.

There were plenty of exciting matches, but the highlight of the 2 weeks was a contest between last year’s National Champion, Hamilton, and perennial power Salisbury. In a hard fought match, Salisbury emerged from a 9-9 tie with 11 minutes left to post a 12-9 victory over the Continentals.

All the matches were played at St. Mary’s University and the team’s practiced at Trinity University and St. Mary’s. Umpires from Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia and Texas did an excellent job.

The team’s stayed in downtown San Antonio at the Residence Inn/Alamo Plaza and were able to enjoy the Riverwalk and other sites of the historic Texas city. Five of the teams visited Sea World during their stay.

Sport Tours would like to thank all the coaches, teams, and umpires who helped make ATTACK 2009 a great success.
