Utah Claims Glenn Wilkes Classic Title

The University of Utah went 3-0 overall and 2-0 in games in Daytona to claim the 2008 Glenn Wilkes Classic championship. The Utes prevailed in a strong, six team field at the event held November 21-23 at the Ocean Center.
The second annual event started with Marshall defeating West Virginia Tech 110-57 in one of three, first round campus site games. Utah claimed a 79-60 victory over Green Bay on Nov. 18 while Ole Miss defeated Morgan State 78-70 in the final first round game held Nov. 29 in Oxford, Miss.
Three days of neutral site play began on Nov. 21 when Morgan State defeated Marshall 72-67. Rollins College, in its only appearance in the event, upset Green Bay 75-58 while Utah defeated Ole Miss in the nightcap, 83-72.
Green Bay rebounded on Saturday with a 72-66 victory over Marshall before Utah claimed the Classic title with a 66-37 win over Morgan State. Play concluded on Sunday with a Green Bay 71-54 victory over Morgan State before Ole Miss finished things off with an entertaining 82-78 win over Marshall.
