Pairings Set For 2008 Glenn Wilkes Classic - 9/30/2008

 

DAYTONA BEACH, FL-- Three days of basketball featuring top teams from different parts of the country highlight the field and schedule for the second annual Glenn Wilkes Classic. The event includes two campus site games and the three days of play November 21-23 at the sparkling Ocean Center in Daytona Beach.

The neutral site portion of the tournament in Daytona Beach will feature three games on Friday and then two each on Saturday and Sunday. Marshall University, a team with a distinct Florida flavor, will begin play with a 2 p.m. Friday contest against Morgan State University, a 22-win squad last season. Division II Rollins College, from nearby Orlando, will square off against a veteran University of Wisconsin-Green Bay team at 4:15 p.m. while Mountain West power University of Utah will play 2008 NIT semifinalist and 24-win squad University of Mississippi in the 6:30 p.m. nightcap on Friday.

Saturday’s slate of games will begin with a 2 p.m. contest between Green Bay and Marshall to be followed by a 4:15 p.m. tilt pitting Morgan State and Utah. Sunday’s games get an early 11 a.m. start when Green Bay faces Morgan State with the event finale coming at 4 p.m. when Marshall squares off with Ole Miss.

All games are played at the Ocean Center, situated on Atlantic Avenue across the street from the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort. The Hilton sits right on the "World’s Most Famous Beach" and serves as the tournament host hotel. Tickets, which go on sale beginning September 29, 2008, are $10.00 per day or $25.00 for an all-tournament pass.
